Last Will and Testament of Anne Ussery
In the name of God Amen. I, ANN USSERY, being weak and low of body and knowing that it is appointed for all mankind once to die do make and ordain this my last will and Testament.
First I will my soul to God who gave it. Respecting my worldly affairs, I give and bequeath to my beloved niece JINCEY MOORE one Negro girl named Sue* and all the rest of my property of every kind that I may be possessed of at my decease to her and her heirs forever. I appoint and ordain DRURY GEE Executor of this my last will and Testament.
In Witness of all I hereunto set my hand and seal the 27th day of Dec. Eighteen hundred and four.
In the presence of William Ragsdale, Benjamin Gee, Jesse Gee
(Signed) Ann (x her mark) Ussery
[Notes: At the time of her death, Anne made no mention of John's children inheriting her estate, nor were they involved in the witnessing her will. Her Negro woman, Sue, was the only property John bequeathed to Anne that was not to revert back to his estate at the time of her death. Anne bequeathed Sue to Jincey Moore, her niece]. [1]
