Anna Maria Windle/Wendel was born to Augustine and Anna Margaret (Bucher) Windle who owned a farm near Tom's Brook which Augustine acquired in 1750 (Northern Neck Grants, Book "G", pp. 375, 376 and 378, which also shows grants made the same day to Augustine's brothers Christopher and Valentine Windle). Augustine (1716-1792) was born in Framersheim, Germany and emigrated to America at the age of 16, arriving aboard the ship 'Samuel' from Rotterdam which docked at Philadelphia August 11, 1732.
