[edit] Notes on Ann ZanesIn an article about early ironworks in the Shenandoah Valley, is found the following: "Another pre-Revolutionary War iron furnace in the valley was that of Isaac Zane, Jr. Built in the 1769's the furnace was called Zane's Iron Works, but also became known as Marlboro Furnace, because deposits of marl were found nearby. From this location on Cedar Creek, north of Strasburg, Isaac Zane supplied cannon and cannon balls for Washington's army.
