Ann Luffe's origins have yet to be established. Her first confirmed sighting is on 6th November 1716 when she married a miller called John Ingram at Little Ponton in Lincolnshire. The following year they had a daughter called Mary baptised in the neighbouring town of Grantham. Mary appears to have been their only child.

In 1750, Ann's daughter Mary died, aged 32. Ann died less than three years later, being buried on 28th January 1753. John survived her by over 21 years.
