1921 Obit. Williamsburg Journal-Tribune, Williamsburg, Iowa County, Iowa, Thursday, June 30, 1921, Pg 1 of 8 MRS. ANN ROBERTS Died at the Home of Her Daughter At Wymore, Nebrraska [sic], June 16th. Mrs. Ann Roberts died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. T. Jones at Wymore, Nebraska, Thursday afternoon, June 16, 1921, at the age of 75 years. The funeral services were held at the Welsh church south of town Sunday afternoon. Interment in the Welsh cemetery. Mrs. Ann Roberts, daughter of John and Katherine Jones, was born at Ffstiniog [Ffestiniog], North Wales, in the year 1846. When she was about 11 years of age, her parents immigrated to America, settling first at Fairhaven, Vermont. After a few years they moved west, settling at Williamsburg, Iowa. Here she was married to Robert W. Roberts, a young man of far more than ordinary character and intelligence; always a leader in his community, and an elder in the church from the early age of 29 years. Eleven children were born to this worthy family, five daughters and six sons. The father and two of the sons have preceded the mother to the long home, in the little cemetery at the side of the Welsh church. One son has been on the Pacific coast for many years, and one daughter lives at Ottumwa, Iowa. All the other children live in this community, each one among our most respected people. Her only sister preceded her to the Great Beyond years ago, and her only brother from South Dakota was with her in her last sickness. From her earliest girlhood, Mrs. Roberts has been a devout Christian and faithful member of the church. In the early years of the cause here, she and her devoted family gave much time and service gratutiously to the church. Her whole life, and example have stood for that which was highest and noblest in human life. Much sickness and many sorrows have entered her life's journey. Her last illness extended for over four months. Though in the most intense pain and agony of suffering she continued the same, patient, faithful follower of the "One who knew Grief and was acquainted with Sorrow."--From Wymore, Neb., paper. Mrs. Roberts was an aunt of Wm. J. Evans and Mrs. S. N. Boland of this neighborhood and will be well remembered by many of the older residents. She left Williamsburg over forty years ago and has resided in Nebraska ever since. References
