Advisory on Ann Johnson

Some researchers claim that the wife of 1) Hugh James and 2) John Christopher was Ann Taliaferro, but other sources have Ann as the daughter of Henry Johnson, who chose John Taliaferro as her guardian after her father's death. The land record listed below was construed by some to show that John Taliaferro was Anna's father, but this relationship is clearly not stated:

Ann Johnson's father Henry signed an intention to marry in July 1695 in Essex Co. (He was a widower, and he was marrying John Bourne's mother, Christian. His first wife was Mary Taliaferro, d/o Robert.) Henry gave his 4 daughters personal property, and named his daughters starting with the oldest Elizabeth (my ancestor). Sarah was 2nd, Katherine 3rd, and Ann was the 4th and youngest. Henry's will was dated Oct 1702 and proved June 1703, Essex. In his will, Henry also listed the order of birth for his children. In Essex Co orphans book May 1707 the 3 minor children chose different Taliaferros as guardian. Ann Johnson chose John Taliaferro. (It was John who gave Ann Christopher, wife of John, and her James children a gift of property).
