Will of Andrew Hairston
- In the name of God Amen the eight day of August in the year of Our Lord 1771.
- I Andrew Hairston of the County of Bedford in Virginia being very sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given to God for the same and calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last will and testament, that is to say principally and first of all.
- I give and recomend my soul to the hands of God that gave it and for my body I recomend it to the earth to be buried in a Christian like and decent manner at the discretion of my Executors nothing doubting but at the General Resurrection I shall _ arise the same again by the Mighty Power of God and as touching such worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to Bless me with in this life, I give and dispose of the same in manner and form following that is to say in the first place I give and Bequeath unto my two loving sons Peter Hairston and Hug Hairston five shillings each also I allow and will that all my just debts be paid out of my movable Estate also I give to my loving wife Elizabeth one third part of my Estate to inherite during her natural life and then to be divided amongst all my Daughters 'Eqully' that is alive at that time and the remainder of my Estate both real and personal my will is that it be sold and 'Eqally' divided amongst my daughters Teney. Kitteren. Elizabeth. Precila. Ellenar. Margaret and Susana.
- I also appoint Samuel Hairston whole and sole Executor of this my last will and testament and I do hereby disalow revoke and disanul all and every other testament wills and legacies and Executors by me in any ways named willed and bequeathed ratifying this and no other to be my last will and testament.
