- From "Chronicles of the Cochrans" by Ida Cochran Haughton 1915, page 64 Vol. 2: "The first mention of the line of Cochrans at Carrikeel (as spelled in the old manuscript) was Andrew, son of John, who was the fourth son of Old James; his mother Margaret Elder. Andrew married Margaret Stephenson, or Stenson, or Stinson as it is variouly spelled, who was his half-sister. His brother Thomas married a distant cousin, Catherine Cochran, daughter of John of Maboy, and their oldest son William was the founder of the American line who located at Carrollsburg, PA in 1732."
