[dougcouch Note: For Andrew, I disagree with the proposal that the census data given in 1900 was birth year 1884 or age 17. Basis: Examining the census taker's handwriting for 4's and 7's throughout the page does not support an 1884 date. As to the age data given, while one could interpret and read a 17 instead of a 13, consider that both of these ages are not in agreement with either an 1884 or 1887 birth year. Looking closely, it appears that the census taker first wrote 13, since 1900-1887=13, and later wrote over the scrawly 13 with a 2, making his age 12 instead. 12 years of age in June 1900 agrees with the 1887 data.]

Man Is Found Dead On Front Porch At Home
Andrew Adkins. 47, was found dead yesterday on the front porch of his home at Chandler's Branch. Dr. W. F. Work, county coroner, stated that he died of a paralytic stroke. The body was removed to the Long and Johnson Mortuary, where it will remain until time for the services. Funeral rites will be held at one o'clock this afternoon at the little mission at No. 15 Washington Street. Burial will be on Wills Creek.
Surviving are six daughters, Mrs. Mada Strickland and Mrs. Sally Strickland of Big Chimney, Miss Edith Adkins, Miss Hester Adkins, Miss Casey Adkins and Miss Margaret Adkins of South Charleston; five sons, Earl and Ray Adkins of Chandler's Branch, Clarence Adkins of Nicholas County, Vergil Adkins of Station B and Lonzo Adkins of Station A and two brothers.
