As a young, red-headed boy in Raymondville a few blocks from his grandparents, Lee and Claudia DeWitt. He spent a lot of time with Claudia, who made miniature cakes and popsicles for him, and thought he was the cutest thing she had ever seen.

A.T. turned his lifelong hobby into a properous business. He owned and operated a hunting/guide service at the King Ranch from 1988 to 2003. He owned the lease to 35,000 acres of the King Ranch, Norias Division, and was cited in a number of hunting publications over the years. Christi and Jerry Dale Abshier visited him at his operation in April of 1999, when they made a pass through Raymondville to visit with Sallie DeWitt. They were treated 'royally' to a sumptuous lunch,a nd a tour of the facilities and the ranch. There were deer, Nilgai (a type of african antelope) and turkey to be hunted on the ranch. We picked up a couple of ticks, too!

He purchased a 60 year old home in Sharyland and has restored it. He lived previously in Houston, Texas, on Almeda-Genoa Road. Amos Thompson died suddenly in 2003 at the McAllen Medical Center. Services were held at the Church at Bethany, 2.7 South Alamo Road, in Alamo, followed by interment at the Raymondville Memorial Cemetery in Raymondville, Texas.
