BENNETT RITES AT FAIRVIEW

Mrs. Ida Josephine Nix Bennett, 81, of Rt. 1, WeatUnion, the Fairview community, died at her home Wednesday after an lilness (sp) of five months. Native of Oconee County, she lived in the community 12 years and was the daughter of the late William and Telesa Guinn NIX. She was the last surviving member of her immediaate family and a former textile worker. Her husband, James Bennett, died in 1955. She was a memvber of Salem First Baptist Church. Surviving are three sons, Ralph Bennett of the home, John Bennett of Walhalla and Ecuim Bennett of Anderson; three daughters, Mrs. Mattie Grant of the home, Mrs. Essie Corn, and Mrs. Bessie Lee of Seneca: 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchilden. Funeral services were conducted Thursday at Fairview Methodist Church by Rev. Donald Hope, Rev. Carl Edgar and Rev. W/ Lee Parince. Burial was ni (sp) Oconee Memorial Park. Paulbearers were Paul and J.B. McMahan, B.Q. Barnes, Harold Kelley, S.C. Biggerstaff and Luther Singleton.

This is the son of Jennings, after he returned from the Civil War and after he left his first wife Elizabeth LITTLETON, and married his Sister-in-law Saleta, GUINN. Gordon seems to be a town East of Macon by 25 miles in Wilkinson County 2) Mandy Liz is short for Amanda Elizabeth Nix. My Mother was named Amanda and always called Mandy, which she hated. 3) Lenard is listed as Wid. But I do not have a wife for him, nor any children. The fact that he is living with his half sister would indicate to me that he may not have any children. 4) The census enumerator got carried away with born in GA. 5) Several dates are off by more than one year, so must review each one separately.
