There is conflicting evidence for Amanda's birthplace. At her death in 1892, her husband states she was born in Whitby Township. A note on her family in The Pickering Ajax Digital Archive states:
- Sylvester Bernard Lynde (1800-1883), eldest son of Jabez and Clarissa, married Louisa Mary Smith in 1822 and moved north to lot 32 on Conession 4, Maple Dell Farm. The couple had five children: Louisa, Charles Alfred, Jabez, Amanda, and Magdalene. Sylvester was remarried in 1843 to Frances Phillips (1822-1895). They had eight children.
Maple Dell Farm was in Pickering Township. The two townships are located next to each other.

In the original image, "father b N B" appears to read "father b N S", but this would appear to be an enumerator error. Benjamin's family moved from New Brunswick to Upper Canada around 1827.
