    Graveside inurnment services will be 1 p.m. today at Lone Mountain Cemetery 1044 Beverly Dr. Carson City, for Alta B. (Penny) Mirk, 80, who died Sept. 2 in Minden.

    Mrs. Mirk was born April 23, 1926, in Detroit, Mich. to Harry Hobday and Mary Loughner Hobday. She married Donald Mirk on April 27, 1944. Prior to moving to Minden 15 years ago, she was a resident of Irvine, Calif.

    She loved to paint, garden, crochet and play at Cactus Jacks in Carson City.

    She was a classic car lover and took her 1940 Packard to all the car shows and Old Time Café.

    She was preceded in death by her husband Donald Mirk, daughter Janice, her parents, a sister and two brothers. She is survived by her son Richard and his wife Judy Mirk of Minden, four grandchildren, Michele Koutsoudis and husband Steve, Jennifer Mirk, Kathy Strayer and husband Jeff, Wes LaPorte and one great-granddaughter Cinnamon Ivy Strayer.

    Arrangements are in the care of Walton's Chapel of the Valley. Cremation will take place at Sierra Crematory in Carson City.
