Alexander was given the nickname of Sandy when he was young. He gr ew up to be a farmer and a woodsman.

Sometime between the years of 1888 and 1899, Alex and Margaret moved to Ea st Providence, RI where their son Ernest was born in 1896.

Margaret died March 2nd, 1930, at the age of 67, in Upper Londonderr y, NS caused by an accident of falling out of her horse and carriage wh en a pin broke in yoke, her daughter Emma came up from the states to te nd her ill mother until her passing.
