The following notice appeared in a local June 1948 newspaper: PEARL HAWKINS: The large number of people who attended the funeral services on last Friday and the lovely flowers her friends sent, showed in a small way the high regard everyone had for Mrs. Pearl Hawkins. She was one grand woman and her greatest virtue was he kindness to someone in need. We don't find people like her every day and the community will certainly miss her. There is no death! The stars go down to rise upon some other shore. And bright in Heaven's jeweled crown. They shine for ever more.
