Adam P. Essig was one of the sons of William Essig the other being John Essig. There were four daughters Mrs. Litchenwalter, Mrs. Overly, Mrs. Harvey Turner and Adam P. married a Moneasmith girl from Echo and had two children Charles who went to Fort Wayne early in life and worked for the Sentinel for many years and a daughter Emma who died when a girl. He was assessor of Marion township in 1871 ect. He sold out to Sargent and moved to Fort Wayne.

Obituaries ADAM P. ESSIG DEAD -- Demise of an Old and Well Known Citizen.

 Adam P. Essig, one of our  best known and most respected citizens died at 1 o'clock Saturday last, after an illness of some months' duration.  He leaves beside his wife, one son, Chas O. Essig, the well-known solicitor on THE SENTINEL  He was sixty-one years of age.  The funeral was held privately Monday morning.

ESSIG

 The funeral of the late Adam P. Essig was held at the M.E. church, Williamsport, at noon Monday and was largely attended.  Rev. Northrop officated, assisted by Rev. Tinkham, of Hoagland.  Interment was held at Williamsport.
 Adam P. Essig was born in Stark county, Ohio, on December 23, 1833.  He came to Allen county in 1843 and settle on a farm at Williamsport, where he lived until 1871, when he removed to this city.  He conducted a boarding house at the corner of Superior and Clinton streets for several years.  To Mr. and Mrs. Essig were born two children, a daughter, who died in early life, and Charles O., the well known advertising solicitor for THE SENTINEL.  Adam Essig was highly respected by all who knew him and was a man of sterling worth and character.
