    Abigail Thomas married John Lounsbury's brother Richard but was never married to Samuel Preston. See Lounsbury Husband of Abigail Thomas, NYGBR 99:65-68 (1968).

    "The widow of Samuel Preston, if she was Abigail Thomas as there is some reason to believe, m (2) a Lounsbury and was mother of Richard and Josiah Lounsbury. Her husband must have been one of the sons of the first Richard Lounsbury. The editor originally placed him as the second Richard, and this name remained on our books under the Preston family, though changed to John under the Lounsbury family (page 1107). After reconsidering the whole problem, the identiy of the Lounsbury husband of Abigail Thomas is not certainly proved."

    "On the 10th day of April 1733, Richard3 Lounsbury of Kingstown, New York, deeded land to his brother Josiah Lounsbury of New Haven, Connecticut (New Haven Land Deeds Vol. 9, p. 300). The land deeded by Richard3 to Josiah was 'all the land lying in the fifth division of the town of New Haven aforesaid the which apportiond to my honored mother Abigail Lounsberry late of New York deceased which right accrued to her by a division of her father John Thomas of New Haven his estate.' The Lounsbury husband of Abigail Thomas was therefore Richard2 Lounsbury and they had at least two children: Richard3 of Kingston and Josiah of New Haven."
