James Galbraith, Jr., settled in Donegal Township, near Chickasalunga Creek, about 1718. He was an Indian Trader, and commanded a company of Rangers during the French War. He was a member of the Assembly for a number of years, a King's Justice, and, about 1742, Sheriff of Lancaster County. He died in 1787, aged eighty-three years. His son, John Galbraith, also established a trading post at the mouth of Conoy Creek, before 1760. He afterwards removed to the Cumberland Valley. John Galbraith's granddaughter, Dorcas Spear (daughter of Robert and Elizabeth Galbraith Spear) married William Patterson of Baltimore, and their daughter, Elizabeth Spear Patterson, married Jerome Bonaparte.
