Notes for JOHN EDMONDSON: From "The Ancestors of Edna Katherine and Pearl May Barlow", by Frances Cooke Chan, pg. 45:

A John Edmiston married Elizabeth Robinson on 10 Sept. 1791 (Washington County, VA) and a Martha Moore on 31 Oct. 1799 (Washington County, VA). These may have been earlier wives or this may be another man. In John's mother, Rachel's will of 1812, she refers fo John as being "unmarried". He may have been a bachelor or widower prior to his marriage fo Polly in 1816. A descendant, J. Allen Edmiston told me that Polly was the wife through whom he was descended. Another descendent, Joanne Fox, also traces her line to Mary Allen and John Edmiston. Polly/Mary may have been the only wife or a third wife. J. Allen Edmiston said that Polly was widowed and later married a Mr. Harmon.

She was described as the "guardian of the children of Moses Edmiston".)
