ERIE COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS Tuesday, Oct. 20th, 10 A.M. The Board met pursuant to adjournment. Minutes of last meeting read and approved. PRESENTATION OF PETITIONS AND REMONSTRANCES. Mr. SAFFORD presented several petitions in regard to erroneous taxes. Referred. The CHAIR presented a petition of gGuatavus Roe- hert. Referred. PRESENTATION AND REFERENCE OF ACCOUNTS Sundry accounds presented and referred. MOTIONS, RESOLUTIONS AND NOTICES Mr. PEEK presented the following Whereas, It appears by the return of Edwin Fow- ler, overseer of Road District No. 49, in the town of Elma, that the highway labor assessed upon the east part of lot No. 26, in said District and in said town, pthe ascribed owner thereof being James s. Wads- worth, and the amount of Indebtedness by said return being $11.56; now, therefore, Resolved. That the Clerk of this Board be and is hereby authorized to add to the tax of James S. Wadsworth on said lot No. 26, in said town, for the present year the sum of $11.56. Mr. LYON moved that the same be laid on the table Lost. The resolution was then adopted. Mr. OATMAN offered the following. Whereas, There was, on the 14th day of November, 1857, the following orders given on the Treasurer of Erie, payable out of the dog fund, for damage sustained by dogs killing sheep, and said orders have not been paid, and the balance of the dog fund for that year has been paid into the poor fund. Therefore, Resolved, That the Clerk of this Board be authorized to draw the following orders, payable out of the dog fund, viz: One in favor of Abigail Bassett for .... .....$9.50 " " " Andrew Varney for ....... ....$3.50 " " " Asa B. Kinyon for ............$3.50 And give them in exchange for the orders given in November, 1857, to the above individuals. On motion of Mr. GOSLIN, referred to the Special Committee on damage done to Sheep by Dogs. Mr. ORR offered a resolution in regard to erroneous tax. Mr. ORR moved the adoption of the resolution. Mr. STOCKING moved as an amendment that the name be referred to the Special Committee on Errone ous Taxation. Carried. Mr. ORR offered the following Whereas, The law of the State, passed in 1859, chap ter 25-1 makes it the duty of the Board each year, to regulate the rates of compensation per mile, any per- son shall received for conveying lunatics to any asylum, or persons to any house of refuge in the State, there- fore, Resolved. That the Chairman of the Board select three members whose duty shall be to fix such compen sation for the coming year. Adopted. --The CHAIR appointed as such committee Messrs Orr Foster and Pfeiffer Mr. KOHLER offered the following Resolved. That an order of ten dollars and twenty cents be drawn in favor of Lewis Varsine, and the same be charged to the town of Tonawanda, for an erroneous assessment. Adopted. UNFINISHED BUSINESS Sundry accounts and petitions presented and referred. On motion of Mr. BRINDLEY the Board adjourned until 2 P.M. Tuesday, Oct 20--2 P.M. Board met pursuant to adjournment. Minutes of the last meeting read and approved. PRESENTATION AND REFERENCE OF ACCOUNTS Sundry accounts presented and referred. MOTIONS, RESOLUTIONS AND NOTICES Mr. OATMAN presented a resolution. Referred. Mr. PLUMB moved that the personal tax of $5.00 against Peter Beverly be stricken from the roll of the town of Collins. Carried. On motion of Mr. ORR the Board adjourned until Wednesday 21st inst, 10 A.M.
