Discussion

Johnathan Hayes (2) and wife Elizabeth Elliot are supposed to have been married in Chester County PA, probably in the Darby Monthly Meeting House. This marriage would have occurred prior to 1734, the year of death of Elixabeth's father, who identified his daughter as "Elizabeth Hays" in his will. Sometime after this they are commonly believed to have moved to New Castle Delaware, where they are supposed to have raised 12 sons, and perhaps one daughter. We would expect those children to have come to a marrying age no later than 1756, and probably several years prior to that. All of the following Hays marriages through about 1780 are potential for their children.
