Family talk:Joseph Clark and Ann Haynes (1)

Alternate marriage date [2 July 2011]

I removed the alternate marriage date of "14 JAN 1774" because it had no source, and the regular marriage date had a published source, to which I now added the family Bible of their son (albeit all I have is a transcript).

Now I know there is an Internet family tree that gives this alternate date, but it gives no sources, so there are no grounds to judge whether they actually have an independent source, or as is more likely in these matters, it is the result of a long chain of copying other Internet sources where somebody copied it wrong somewhere along the way (the same way this same website seems to have somehow gotten Frances' birthdate wrong, making her into a twin with Martha, when she is not).

While it is possible that the family Bible is wrong, or that the transcript had errors, and that the published source relied on one or the other of them, and does not represent an independent source, and it is certainly true that finding this out would be useful, however, the correction would pretty much have to come from a primary document like a marriage bond or church record to be show this. And if you have that, I would greatly appreciate the pointer to it. --Jrich 12:23, 2 July 2011 (EDT)
