Family talk:John Miller and Lydia Combs (2)

Wife's maiden name [29 September 2012]

...is probably wrong? There is a John Miller and Lydia Combs in Middleborough, married 1701, obviously a completely different couple of later generations. Appearances suggests this page is conflating this couple with that. Birthdate of 1610 is probably calculated or estimated since not precise, and birthplace same as husband is probably an assumption, since no sources given. Therefore, only thing about wife Lydia that appears to be fact is death date, which is recorded in Boston records. Savage names wife only as Lydia, as do Eliot's church record in Roxbury. They married in England and had son John before they arrived in New England. The greatest probability of errors in always tracing back across the immigration so unless there is some source provided, any maiden name is of dubious reliability, and in this case, given the possibility of confusion with the Middleborough couple, it seems more likely. --Jrich 10:18, 29 September 2012 (EDT)
