In 1821, Zopher and Emily Coleman sought a home in the wilds of Jackson, settling a short distance north of the present site of Mansfield. They hailed from SC. In the same year, a son was b. to them, and they called him Zopher Jr. The elder Coleman lived to see some change in the condition of Parke Co. and d. in 1856.
