Legacy and descendants

Their grandson Samuel Whitbread became a highly successful brewer (when he died The Gentleman's Magazine reported his "worth [at] over a million pounds."

Their great-grandson (Martha's son's son) was John Howard, Esq., noted philanthropist and prison reformer.
