There is a lot of confusion about this Content Irish. If she were the Content Irish, widow of Joseph Lawton, the marriage record should read William Shaw m. Content Lawton, but it doesn't. James N. Arnold in his Little Compton marriages may have identified the wrong person as the wife of William Shaw.

Thomas Wood had a daughter, Content Shaw, mentioned in his will of 1728. This Content Wood was b. 15 Jan 1694 at Little Compton.
