  1. Joanna Wilson, who never married, is called the mother of Katherine (Hartwell) Upton in her death record. It is appears that Katherine may have been adopted by her aunt and uncle Hartwell and used their name. Also notice in the deeds cited on her aunt Rebcca's page how Josiah Upton's property bounded Rebecca's and Joanna's.

"Descendants of Josiah and Catherine (Hartwell) Upton", by William H. Upton, NEHGR, Vol. 40, p. 147, says "Attempts to ascertain the date and place of this marriage and the parentage have been unsuccessful." The intention of marriage was published in a later issue of NEHGR, so the approximate date is known, but not her parentage.

A Find A Grave memorial shows a picture of a completely unreadable gravestone, claiming Catherine Hartwell was a daughter of Joseph & Sarah Hartwell, b. 1740. Since the gravestone is unreadable, it is unknown if the age at death was actually read or calculated, but since Joseph Hartwell jr. of Bedford was published to Sarah Skinner in 1751, the only pertinent Joseph & Sarah Hartwell found, we can tell that the quality of research is lacking. Since no births for Joseph and Sarah are found recorded in Bedford and that family probably moved to Vermont, even adjusting the birth estimate makes this a bad fit. If the age at death is correct,

The age of Katherine is unknown, hence the approximate date of this non-marriage is unknown.
