Thomas Gardner, Planter (Cape Ann, 1623-1626, Salem, 1626-1674) and Some of His Descendants, p. 135, says the marriage occurred "4th of the 4th mo", which would be June, but as can be seen, the published VRs do not show a numeric month being used. If the original did say 4th mo., then the VRs are wrong, and it should be June. If the original did say April, then Gardner is wrong and it should be 2nd mo. There are additional (secondary) sources that give both, Source:Essex Institute Historical Collections (Essex Institute Press), p. 5:36 (1863), in an article on the Higginson family says April; Source:Perley, Sidney. History of Salem, Massachusetts, (1928) p. 1:69, gives "June", and Source:Torrey, Clarence Almon. New England Marriages Prior to 1700 gives both. Most older sources, though, seem to say April, and speculating that they may have actually had to look at the original records, this could be correct.]
