History of the Town of Medfield, Massachusetts, 1650-1886, p. 420, shows Roger as part of this family, even though the Andover Vrs, p. 64 and 219, list Roger's birth and death under parents "Return Johnson and Precillia Pratt", apparently a birth out of wedlock. It could be this Return Johnson but his wife was still alive (according to History of Medfield, but no evidence) and about 10 years after their previous child. There is also a gap between marriage and first child, and if they had a son Return in that gap, he would be of an age that he could possibly be the father, and Roger could thus be a grandson. No evidence of the son is found, and he does not show up in the 1710 deed selling the real estate of the father.
