From Wentworth GenealogyS2: Nicholas3 Gilman, son of Counsellor John2 Gilman as above, and father (as above) of Joanna4 Gilman, first wife of Col. John4 (160) Wentworth, born 26 December 1672, was probably named for his uncle Nicholas Shapleigh. He was a merchant, and lived in Exeter, N.H., on or near the site of the house built by the late John Williams, later owned by Isaac Flagg, now deceased, and in 1876 by his daughters. He was Judge C.C.P. 1729 and 1730, and then resigned. He was appointed Judge of the Superior Court in 1731, and resigned in 1739. He married 10 Jun 1697, Sarah, daughter of Nathaniel and Elizabeth (Somerby) Clark, of Newbury, Mass. (See "Clark" and "Somerby," following "Gilman" in this note.) She was born 12 January 1678, and died 25 August 1741. He died in 1749.
