New Hampshire Births and Christenings, 1714-1904, representing New Hampshire birth records as indexed by town clerks, and as indexed by volunteers, respectively, give the birth of Gardner Rideout on 26 Feb 1791. Neither give a birth of Gardner on 3 June 1790, or a birth of Huldah on either date. In fact, the records of the town clerks number the children, and John b. 1793 is numbered 7th, which implies no Huldah, as all previous 6 are accounted for. Source:Worcester, Samuel Thomas. History of the Town of Hollis, New Hampshire, p. 386, gives what is called a family register of Nathaniel Rideout and Susannah Spaulding, showing the birth of Gardner and Huldah, twins, on 3 Jun 1790. This causes trouble not only because of the assertion of twins, but is shows a date for Gardner that is wholly different (not likely to be the result of a simple misreading). This date is incompatible with the date in Feb 1791, as even the birth of Huldah in June 1790 and Gardner Feb 1791 would be only 8 months apart. No marriage or any other mention of Huldah is found. This appears to be an error in the History of Hollis.
