Morris O'Friel/Offriel and his family were Early Settlers of Augusta County, Virginia

The Fiblys Passenger and Immigration List Index recorded only two O'Friels arriving in America. They were Morris and Catherine O'Friel.

On June 26, 1740 Morris O'Friel proved his and Catherine's importation from Great Britain at their own expense in order to become entitled to enter public land. This procedure was held before the Orange County, Virginia Court.

Will of Morris O’Friel Augusta County, VA will book 6, pgs. 18, 19 & 20 Recorded May 19, 1778

In the Name of God Amen; Commonwealth I, Morris O’Friel of the County of Augusta, Colony of Virginia, Farmer, being sick and weak in body, but of perfect mind and memory, Thanks be given to God; Therefore calling unto mind the mortality of my body, and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to dye, do make and order this my last will and testament. That is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hands of God that gave it and for my body, I recommend it to the earth, to be buried in a Christian like and decent manner, at the discretion of my executors. Nothing doubting at the general perception, but I shall serve the same again, by the mighty power of God and as touching such worldly estate, which it hath pleased God, to __?__ in this life. I give, devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and forms.

• ___?___, It is my will and I do order that in the first place all my first debts and funeral charges be paid and satisfied.
• Item, I give and bequeath to Catherine, my well beloved wife, whom I likewise constitute, make and certain my only and sole executrix, of this my last will and testament. One third of my estate, during her life, together with what money is in the house; her choice of two horses, two cows, twelve sheep, a negro woman named Violet. Together with my dwelling house and furniture to give devise and dispose of, as she shall think fit.
• Item, I give and bequeath to my well beloved son, Daniel O’Friel, the part of my plantation that he now resides on to run with a __?__ line, from a __?__ locust stump to a little below the big spring. Together with their half of the beasts, after every one gets their allotment with paying your sister Mary, twenty pound out it.
• Item, I give and bequeath to my beloved son Jeremiah O’Friel, the part of the plantation that he lives on with the other part of the price of the __?__ thatÂ’s to be sold and to pay his sister Mary twenty pound out of it.
• Item, I give and bequeath to my beloved daughter, Eleanor, a grey mare calf, __?__.
• Item, I give and bequeath to my beloved daughter, Mary, a grey mare big with fold, a black cow, six sheep, together with her allotment from my sons Dan and Jeremiah.
• Item, I give and bequeath to my grandson Joseph, a plantation containing one hundred and sixty acres lying between Wm. Bells and James Bells __?__ the back drought, together with two mares, his own mare and her dam.
• Item, I give and bequeath to my two grandsons, Morris and John Martin a plantation in the forks of James River containing four hundred acres to be equally divided between them. Together with __?__ Colt and the roan frilly with their increase till they both come to age and then to be equally divided.
• Item, I give and bequeath to my grandson, John O’Friel the survey lying on McClure’s Run.
• Item, I give and bequeath to everyone, from my son Dan, down to any grandson, John their lands to them and their heirs forever.
