    Per the Marriage Bond in Franklin County, Virginia, for the marriage of Michael W. Scott and Nancy Purtle, it was stated that Nancy was the daughter of Jane Adams. This seems to suggest that Nancy's maiden name was actually "Adams" and that she had been previously married to a "Purtle". Additional research is needed to determine the exact circumstances.
