  2.   Source:Bond, Henry. Genealogies of the Families and Descendants of the Early Settlers of Watertown, Massachusetts, including Waltham and Weston (1860), p. 5, says that the Josiah who married Mary Flagg was the son of Ebenezer Allen and Elizabeth Eddy, as his second wife. Besides there being no death record of his first wife Elizabeth to confirm this, it would mean that the 24 year old Mary married a 40 year old husband, and that this Josiah named two sons Josiah, named two daughters Mary, and was having children until he was over 60 years of age. It seems far more likely that Bond is combining two different Josiah Allens into one, and since the first two children of Josiah Allen and Mary Flagg were named Lydia and Nathaniel, that the Josiah who married Mary Flagg was the son of Nathaniel and Lydia Allen, that particular Josiah being only 5 years older than Mary.
