  1. There is an undated marriage record in Sudbury for Joseph Parmenter and Mary Gibbs. Various secondary sources can be found that assign this marriage to this Joseph, and others to his speculated son, who also married a woman named Mary. More information is needed to determine age of Mary Gibbs, and hence which Joseph is an appropriate match, if either.

There does not seem to be a probate for this Joseph in Middlesex county. The two Joseph and Mary's of Sudbury are thought to be father and son because they both named a daughter Bathsheba. The second Joseph appears to have moved to Rutland, as does also the son Charles, further supporting idea that this Joseph is the father of the younger one. It is not known if the Mary Parmenter, w. Joseph, who dies in Rutland in 1752 is the wife of the first or second Joseph. The probate of a Joseph Parmenter Jr. of Rutland in 1774 [#45438], not available online, could conceivably offer some clues (or be unrelated).
