Joseph was of Rehoboth before moving to Sudbury where he died. Source:Rehoboth, Bristol, Massachusetts, United States. Vital Record of Rehoboth, 1642-1896, p. 5, show the marriage of "Allen, Joseph and Martha Tingley, Sept. 15, 1703. Int. June 19, 1703." Source:Tingley, Raymon Meyers. Some Ancestral Lines : Being a Record of Some of the Ancestors of Guilford Solon Tingley and His Wife, Martha Pamelia (Sic), p. 378, says that Martha Tingley, d/o Samuel Tingle and Martha ---, b. Rehoboth 26 Sep 168- [next child b. 1689], m. 15 Sep 1703 Joseph Allen of Attleboro. No attempt is made to identify Joseph Allen. No death of his first wife nor birth of any children is found in Rehoboth and nothing is found in Attleboro records. But it appears likely this is the Martha who is wife of Joseph Allen.

Source:Genealogical Quarterly Magazine (Eben Putnam), p. 2:216-7 confuses things by saying the daughter Martha m. Joseph Allen, and then adding that Samuel Tingley's widow Martha m. Joseph Allen of Attleboro when Samuel died in 1714. The widow would be a better match age-wise to our Joseph, but as Samuel d. 1714, this would be too late to have a daughter Elizabeth who is an adult in 1725. It is also possible that Mr. Putnam was confused by the two Marthas, marrying them both to a Joseph Allen When only the daughter actually did?
