    John Dyson of [the parish of St Chad, Saddleworth] and Mary Pontefract of the [same] parish were married in this church by Banns this nineteenth day of February in the year one thousand eight hundred and twenty-one [19 Feb 1821].

    Saddleworth was in Yorkshire until 1974 when Greater Manchester was formed. The new boundaries included this large rural parish. Archives for Saddleworth are part of the holdings of Manchester Libraries.
