John Dyson of [the parish of St Chad, Saddleworth] and Mary Pontefract of the [same] parish were married in this church by Banns this nineteenth day of February in the year one thousand eight hundred and twenty-one [19 Feb 1821].

Saddleworth was in Yorkshire until 1974 when Greater Manchester was formed. The new boundaries transferred this large rural parish from the West Riding of Yorkshire to Greater Manchester which came out of the County of Lancashire at the same time.
Archives for Saddleworth are held in Manchester Libraries.
