[This comes from a section called Early Records of New Hampshire Families, that appears to be the same document that is printed in Source:NEHGR, p. 7:115, and Dr. Farmer apparently added a notation: "An original record of births &c, for the towns of Portsmouth, Dover, and Hampton, [and he should have added, New Castle,] commencing 1643."]

  4. It seems quite possible that the marriage record in Early Records of New Hampshire Families, above, was not recording the location of the marriage, only its date, as it is more typical to marry near the bride's home, which was in Boston, and given that Mr. Thomas Danforth was a magistrate from 1659 until he became deputy governor in 1679, and did marriages in Boston. However, no record is found in Source:Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts, United States. Births, Baptisms, Marriages, and Deaths, 1630-1699 (A Report of the Record Commissioners). Some sources say the marriage occurred in Kent, England (e.g., Source:Pecquet du Bellet, Louise. Some Prominent Virginia Families (61342), p. 4:214: "The marriage ceremony was performed by the Rev. Mr. Danforth, Kent, England where she was born July 22, 1632."), but this seems very unlikely given that John emigrated by 1646; although Comfort's will in 1659 does say "If my dau. Hannah Starr come into New England...".
