The church they attended in Chicago was apparently Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1500 Elmdale Ave., Chicago which was a couple of blocks from their apartment on Ridge ave. Helen had saved several newspaper articles on the church.

On June 1923, they were living at 1436 Victoria St., Chicago.

Joel and Emma Johnson were the parents of Helen Blake and Margaret Anderson and the grandparents of Ken Blake, Jim Blake, Paul Anderson and Gary Anderson; the great grandparents of Kevin, Tom, Susan, Kathy, Dan, Kim, Jim and Michael and the great great grandparents of the latter's off spring. Joel was the first cousin of Edla Sund and of Signa Vikander and Reynold Celander. Signa and Reynold were the witnesses at the marriage of Joel and Emma in Waterloo, Iowa area about 1910.

It is interesting to note that, in the 1920 census, Edla and Andrew Sund lived at 5806 Ridge Ave. ,Chicago and Andrew was a building janitor. They moved to California before 1930. In the 1930 census, Joel and Emma lived at 5810 Ridge Ave Chicago and Joel was a building janitor.

Joel Johnson, Head, rented for $58 a month, had a radio, male, white, age 49, married at age 30, he and parents were born in Sweden, immigrated to US 1905, building janitor.

Emma Johnson, Wife, female, white, age 48, married at 27 (?), she and parents were born in Sweden. Immigrated to US 1905.

Helen Johnson, Daughter, female, white, age 18, single, born in Iowa, parents born in Sweden, worked as a secretary.

Margaret Johnson, Daughter, female, white, age 16, single, born in Illinois.
