    "Wakelee, James & 1wf Hannah [Peat] (I667-); by 1688; Stratford. CT {Stratford Hist 2:320; Reg 36:82)"

Neither of the sources cited by Torrey mentions the name of Hannah Peat or of any other woman as the wife of James Wakelee.

"He m. (2) Hannah Peat, dau. of John, b. 6 Dec. 1667. This statement is made in Hist, of Stratford, also in Hist, of Fairfield, where Hannah Peat is the only wife attributed to Jacob, It is obvious that she was not old enough to be mother of the older children; she was wife of a Wakelee in 1694, and could have been second wife of Jacob, or first wife of James Wakelee."

  3. Torrey is misleading since neither of the two sources he cited in his entry on James and Hannah actually mentions Hannah or any other woman. Given the respective ages of Jacob and James and the sequence of their respective children, it seems that James is the more likely candidate for Hannah's husband, but there there appears to be no solid evidence either way.
