    April Sessions 1822 James Toomey Will: In the name of God Amen. I James Toomy of Roane County and State of Tennessee do make ordain and declare this instrument to be my last will and testament revoking all others. Item I give to my beloved wife Jain all my land during her life and all the household and kitchen furniture. I also give to her all my farming utensils and tools of every description. Also all my cattle, hog, sheep, and mare and geese. It is my desire that my beloved wife Jane will sell as much of the perishable property as will pay all my just debts. It is my desire after my wifes decd. that my land and all the residue of my estate should be sold and the money equally divided between my three children namely Polly, Barbary and Julyann in witness of all and each of the things herein contained, I have set my hand and seal this fourth day of January in the year one thousand eight hundred and twenty-two.
