1812-About 1818: Cratloe, County Clare

There are two baptisms recorded for children of James McMahon and Maria Molony in Cratloe, County Clare (but Diocese of Limerick) in 1813 and 1814, for Michael and Martin, names which are important in the family. Cratloe is on the north bank of the River Shannon, across from Limerick. It is likely James and Maria (Mary) originated in County Clare, possibly Cratloe. Investigation of displacements from County Clare in the 1810s and 1820s into Limerick may reveal more about their origins. It seems likely that James's father was named Michael, that he had a brother named Michael, and that Martin is also a name that will be found among his or Mary's antecedents.
