1880 Census

In 1880 Jacob Eichhorn, 30, lives on West 7th St. in Erie, Pennsylvania, next to Jacob T Sevin, his wife's father (see Family:Jacob Sevin and Catherine Albracht (1) for info). Jacob Eichhorn is a tailor and was born in Bavaria, as were his parents. Caroline, his wife, is also 30, and was born in Pennsylvania. Her parents were born in Bavaria. They have three children: Clara, 4 years, 6 months; Charlotte, 1 year 8 months, and Theodore, 4 months old (born in Feb 1880).

1900 Census

Jacob Eichorn, 50 (born April 1850) lives at 1821 French St. in the 5th ward of Erie, Pennsylvania. His home is rented. Jacob is a tailor, and was born in Germany, as were his parents. His wife, Caroline (age 50, born Nov. 1849), has had five children; four are now living. They were married at age 28. Children in their household include: Clara, 24 (born Sep 1875); Charlotte, 21 (born Oct 1878), works as a telephone operator and was unemployed one month in the last year; Carl, 14 (born Sep 1885), is a printer's apprentice. The household includes one boarder, John Koehler, 24 (born Nov 1875), a day laborer who was born in Pennsylvania (and whose parents were born in Germany).

1910 Census

Jacob Eichhorn, 60, lives in a rented apartment at 830 Germian(?) Street in the 2nd ward of Erie, Pennsylvania. Caroline, his wife, is also 60. They were married 38 years ago. They had five children; four are now living. Jacob was born in Germany. He emigrated in 1866 and has been naturalized. He is a tailor with his own shop. Their daughter Charlotte, age 31, is single and living at home. She's a manager for a loan office.


1930 Census

Jacob Eichhorn rents an apartment (for $40/month) at 120 East 9th Street, in the 2nd ward of Erie, Pennsylvania. He is 80 years old and a widower, who married at age 24. He was born in Germany, emigrated in 1867, and has been naturalized. He is a tailor. His daughter Charlotte, age 43, lives with him. She is single, and works as a typist at the courthouse. They have one boarder, Florence Hopkins, who is 37 and was married at age 24. She does housework in a private home.
