  7.   In some records, Jabe is referred to as "Jabus" (S3), "J.W." (S2), or "Jobe" (S4). Mary's last name sometimes appears as "Rainwaties" (S2).
  8.   It is possible that Jabe and Mary were buried with, or near, their daughter, Mary Lou Vest (S6). This apparently has led to some confusion, as her parent's last names do not appear on the headstone, leading some to assume that the Starkeys' surname was "Vest."
