indicate a marriage in 1696 based on sons Isaac and Simon being twins, born in 1697.

Yet Source:Cambridge, Middlesex, Massachusetts, United States. Vital Records to the Year of 1850 clearly shows Isaac b. 23 Feb 1690 to Isaac 2d and Elizabeth, and Simon b. 19 Oct 1697 to the same parents. (So does Source:Lexington, Middlesex, Massachusetts, United States. Record of Births, Marriages, and Deaths to January 1, 1898, but that is only based on a copy of the Cambridge records made by Dr. Lucius Paige for families living in Cambridge Farms, i.e., Lexington, so confirms that the Cambridge records say that, but adds no independent evidence. It is also found in Source:Paige, Lucius R. History of Cambridge, Massachusetts, 1630-1877, same caveat.)

The explanation for this discrepancy is unknown. The basis for supposing Isaac and Simon as twins is unknown. It is possible that all those sources simply copied from Bond being unaware of the Cambridge records? The gap in the Cambridge births is a little large, causing some doubt, but the records show no indication that either child was a twin. We could speculate that 1696 was misread as 1690, but that is pure speculation, and the fact is that both parents were old enough to have married by 1690.
