The Middletown Vital Records [NEHGS] contain the following entry on page 187: "Gipson, … Roger, m. Mary Burtis, w. of Isaac Cornwell, July [__] 1716 [1:60]". The next eldest Isaac Cornwall of record in Middletown, after the man born 1690 whose estate went to probate in 1733, was Isaac4, son of Jacob3, born in 1722 and killed by lightning in 1739. The most likely conclusion is that the marriage of Isaac3 Cornwall and Mary Burleson was quickly terminated, either by annulment or divorce. Isaac3's rather odd nuncupative will and the fact that no wife is mentioned in the probate supports that conclusion.--jaques1724 02:04, 7 October 2016 (UTC)
