Perhaps Harry and Laura met at the bakery, since in 1920 he was a baker and she was a housekeeper at a bakery. They were married on 22 February 1921, by Reverend George A Scheer, minister of St Mark's Reformed Church, in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania. They had one child, Harry Frederic Ide, Junior, and also raised Laura's two children by her previous marriage, Mae Hafft and Bill Hafft.
They moved several times. In 1925, they were living at 2514 Gratz Street. In 1930, they were living at 851 East Willard Street, which they rented for $32 a month. They also had a radio. William Hafft was working as a helper at a push pin factory then. Eventually they rented 822 East Russell Street from a family member.
The Catholic Church up the street ordered all their cakes from Harry. From all his son Harry heard, he was a good baker. He used to come home at 6.00 AM and go back to work at noon.
Harry's mother, Minnie, and sister Lizzie lived with them for a while. Minnie apparently used to favor her son Dick. For example, she would let him take flour when he came over and said he was out of it!
Harry Ide, Senior died there on 23 February 1935, in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania. They were living at 822 East Russell Street then. (In 1930, Clara Hafft was living at 822 East Russell Street with her three children, her son-in-law, and a granddaughter; she was renting it for $35 a month. Laura's sister Anna Kennedy was living at 822 East Russell Street when she died on 24 October 1840. Also, Laura's brother John, who died on 28 August 1945, was living at 822 East Russell Street when he died.)
Laura Kennedy died on 25 April 1953, in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania.
