Children
Godfrey and Olive Duane came to Boylston from Dexter, NY in 1852. They stayed in a log cabin opposite the Mad River corner at first, then built a log house where the frame house stood in Boylston. A cousin of Olive's named Wright ran the 9 Mile Tavern about then. Godfrey took his children to Dexter, NY by Ox cart to have them baptized. He made shingles by hand and walked to Lorraine, NY and back carrying a bundle of shingles on his back to trade fro food staples. |
