- ↑ There is a torn record at the very bottom of p. 29 of the Braintree records that appears to give the birth of a child of "ffrancis nash" on a page whose context would suggest the date is about 1673. In Bates' published transcription of 1886, p. 659 it says "[blank] Nash son of Francis Nash & Elizabeth his wife borne [blank]". Most sources list Elizabeth Nash b. 1677 as the first child (see NEHGR, p. 54:404; Source:Phillips, Vernon S. Francis Nash of Braintree, Mass. and 480 of His Descendants, p. 6).
There is a non-specific reference in Phillips to an unnamed young child of Francis Nash that was killed by a log rolling over it, but no date is given, and no record of this elsewhere has been found, so it is not clear if this is the mystery child from 1673 or another. It is listed after Margaret, implying born after 1684, but since there is no date, this could simply reflect that the birthdate was unknown?
